- Dal Makhni - A regular Black/Green Moong dal having butter.
- Dal Fry - Any yellow dal fried specially with onion and tomatoes in North India.
- Dal Tadka - Any yellow dal spiced with tadka with the help of cumin seeds, red chilli dry, Fenugreek Seeds, black mustard seeds, cinnamon and bay leaf etc. warmed in Oil.
Though mainly cultivated for its edible seeds, Cajanus cajan can be considered a multipurpose species. Pigeon pea stems are a good fuel source, valued for pigeon pea’s fast-growing habit, though their energy value is half that of charcoal. Stems and branches of pigeon pea are also used for basketry.
